Contact: D. Champluvier

In depth studies subsidiary to the preparation of the family installment for Flore d'Afrique Centrale. A revision of the closely related genera Brachystephanus and Oreacanthus is ongoing. These rain forest genera are mainly mountainous and the study of the morphology and geographical distribution of the included species is expected to provide interesting data with regard to the theory of the glacial rain forest refuges in Africa.

Besides those two genera, several new species have been or are to be described, i.e. in the genus Pseuderanthemum; for the latter one, a large amount of herbarium material is being examined, and living material collected during field work in Congo-Brazzaville observed.

The revision of the genus Thunbergia is ongoing, 35 species have been revised until now; 60 remain to study.
